How the platform is built
liveForStudentsTeaching staffAdministrationOperator
A web application that runs in the browser, with a relational database in Frankfurt and data centres in the EU — multi-tenant, multilingual, secured by thousands of automated tests.
Why#
Whoever introduces a platform for studies, exams and staff wants to know what they are relying on.
How it works#
- 1Nothing to install: the platform runs in every current browser on computer, tablet and phone.
- 2Every institution is a tenant of its own with its own brand; its data is separated from that of other tenants.
- 3Every feature can be switched per tenant.
Settings and switches#
No switch of its own in the feature catalogue — the feature belongs to its surroundings.
Key facts#
- Web application with pages generated on the server and interactive parts in the browser
- Relational database with row-level protection per tenant, file storage and sign-in — location Frankfurt
- Execution of the application in an EU region (Frankfurt)
- Interface in fifteen languages
- Every feature switchable per tenant, every module bookable individually
Related features#
- Operation and data in the EUData and processing are in the EU — as a hard rule in the code that an automated test checks on every change, not as a default.
- AI on the platform — what it may and may not doAI writes suggestions, presents courses and answers questions — labelled, bound to sources and with fixed limits: it does not assess exam behaviour and decides nothing that a person must decide.
- Feature catalogue: switch every feature per tenantEvery feature of the platform can be switched on and off for all customers or for a single customer — off means: not there, not just greyed out.
