Voice and gestures in the slide editor
Edit slides by voice command and with gestures in front of the camera — “to the right”, “undo”, “new heading”; swiping in the air moves the selected element.
Why#
Whoever stands in front of an audience or does not have their hands free cannot always reach mouse and keyboard. Because every edit is a command at the core, the new input route needs no new editor: voice and gesture trigger exactly the commands that mouse and keyboard trigger.
How it works#
Click pathSlide editorVoice / Gestures
- 1In the slide editor press “Voice” at the top right, say a sentence and press again (after eight seconds it stops listening by itself).
- 2German and English are understood: “undo”, “redo”, “to the right”, “three to the left”, “new heading”, “insert text”, “delete”, “duplicate”, “group”, “bring to front”, “align left”, “centre”, “element 2”, “next”.
- 3What was not understood is shown by the editor with the sentence it heard — nothing happens then.
- 4Press “Gestures”, read the notice and “Turn on camera”: swiping left, right, up or down moves the selected element, the open hand undoes the last step, the fist selects the next element.
- 5“Gestures off” switches the camera off immediately.

- Part of the module “Course Studio”; switchable per tenant.
How it works#
The spoken sentence goes via the platform's speech recognition (EU, without falling back to services outside the EU) back to the editor. There the core turns it into an intent — the same one a key triggers — and the editor executes it as a command, with history and “undo”.
The camera is evaluated only in the browser; no image leaves the device, nothing is stored.
Further input routes of the stage#
- When presenting interactive slides: levers by voice, camera gesture and phone as console (see “Interactive slides”)
- Stream phone camera, screen or video live into the slide (see “Phone stream”)
- Phone photo directly onto the slide (see “Beam”)
A second device can co-edit the same slide — see “A second device edits along”.
Who may do what#
Whoever may edit the slide in the editor may also do so by voice and gesture — there are no additional rights and no way around the editor's rights.
Tips#
- Without a number, “to the right” moves by five percent of the slide width, like the arrow key with Shift; more than half a slide at once is capped as a mishearing.
- “Insert” alone inserts what was copied before; “insert text” creates a new text box.
- Without a hand model on the server the camera only recognises movements (up, down, left, right) — not the fist and the open hand then.

- Interactive slides: levers, sliders, scenariosSliders and levers on the slide change everything bound to them live — numbers, bars, markers, colours, visibility. Operable while presenting with mouse, finger, keyboard, from the phone, by voice and with gestures.
- Live source: the phone streams into the slideA phone's camera, screen, photo or video appears live on the slide — with sound, directly from device to device, without recording. Paired via QR code, accepted by the presenter.
- Beam from phoneTake a photo with the phone and throw it directly onto the slide — via QR code, without cables and without signing in on the phone.
- A second device edits along (“Dual Canvas”)Pair a tablet or phone with the slide editor via QR code: it shows the slide, moves, deletes and duplicates elements and throws text onto the slide.
