Beam from phone
liveForTeaching staff
Take a photo with the phone and throw it directly onto the slide — via QR code, without cables and without signing in on the phone.
Why#
A sketch on paper, a board drawing, an object: what lies in front of you is on the slide within seconds.
How it works#
Click pathSlide editorInsertBeam (phone)
- 1In the slide editor choose “Insert” → “Beam (phone)” (in the workshop also in the box “Sources” under “BEAM” → “Start BEAM”) (Fig. 1).
Fig. 1 The box “Sources” with “Start BEAM”: photos from the phone directly onto the slide. - 2Drag the dashed beam frame to where the photo should land and drag it to size.
- 3Scan the QR code with the phone. A page opens on the phone: “📷 Choose / take photo”.
- 4The photo appears in the frame; on the phone it says “Sent!” — further photos can be sent afterwards.
Settings and switches#
No switch of its own in the feature catalogue — the feature belongs to its surroundings.
- Part of the module “Course Studio”.
Why this is safe without signing in on the phone#
The QR code carries a short-lived token signed by the server. It is the permission — nothing more: whoever has it can send photos for this one session but read nothing. After 15 minutes it is worthless.
Who may do what#
Start: the signed-in author in the editor. Send: whoever scans the QR code while it is valid.
Tips#
- The link is only valid briefly (15 minutes) and is bound to the editor session that is currently open; afterwards simply start a new beam.
- In the editor's history a beamed photo appears as a step of its own (“Beam photo”) — it can be undone like any other change.
