Impact

ForTeaching staffAdministration

For every piece of content you publish, see how often it was opened, how long each slide was viewed, where viewers leave, on which devices (down to operating system and version), in which countries, regions and cities and at what time of day — plus engagement, a live view, notifications when personal links are opened, a PDF report and an API. Counted anonymously, without storing anything on viewers' devices, small groups combined.

Why#

Whoever sends a presentation, offers a course or shares a message wants to know what lands: which slide holds people, where they stop, which mailing works. The figures are counted honestly and respect the viewers.

How it works#

  1. 1In the slide deck (Studio), open the “Impact” tab under “Publish” — or “Impact” in administration (address /admin/wirkung) for all content of the organisation.
  2. 2Choose the period at the top: 7, 30 or 90 days or 12 months. Figures run up to yesterday.
  3. 3Key figures: opens, viewers (estimated), average viewing time, share watched to the end, interactions.
  4. 4“Over time” shows opens and viewers per day; “Viewing time per slide” shows the average viewing time per slide (the darker, the longer), how many reached the slide and how many stopped there.
  5. 5“Attention” shows the engagement score with its formula, pauses, rewinds, muting, full screen, tab switches and the passages rewatched most often.
  6. 6“Time of day and weekday” shows when people open it (viewers' local time); “Location” a map of countries with regions, cities and time zones; “Devices” type, manufacturer, operating system and browser with version, screen, orientation, connection and app or web.
  7. 7“Table” shows everything as tables, “Export CSV” downloads the figures, “Report (PDF)” opens a print version to save as PDF. External systems read the same report through the API (/api/v1/wirkung, scope “wirkung:read”).
  8. 8At the top you see how many people are viewing the content right now.
  9. 9Under “Recipient links”, create and copy a separate link for each recipient, mailing, group or version (A/B). “Links and groups” compares them, for personal links including the time until first opening. Each personal link can “notify on opening” (in the app, by email or both); on Mondays a weekly report arrives as a notification.
  10. 10For Stage decks, “Learners in the course” at the top switches to the learners' view (administration of the organisation only).

Settings and switches#

  • Switchable per tenantDefault: onModule: Lernplattform (always booked)
  • Can be switched per organisation, on by default.
  • Counting only happens where the organisation has switched the feature on.

How counting works#

  • Without consent the page stores nothing on viewers' devices — no cookie, no local storage. A session only lives as long as the open page.
  • The IP address is not stored. To estimate unique viewers it is irreversibly combined with a key that changes daily; the same person cannot be recognised the next day. No personal profiles are created.
  • What counts is what was visible: a slide only counts while it is on screen and the tab is active.
  • Device and browser are only stored as classes (operating system with major version, browser with major version, manufacturer and model class), never the full browser identifier. Location only comes from the hosting provider's information (country, region, city); the IP address is not looked up for it and not stored.
  • Every value — a city, a device model, an operating system version — only appears from 5 sessions; rarer values are combined under “Other”.
  • Learners in a course: the organisation only sees figures from 5 people (as with competence continuity); smaller values appear as “under 5”. Each person sees their own learning trail in their own progress.
  • Campaigns and groups only appear from 5 viewers; individual recipients only with a confirmed legal basis.
  • Individual events are deleted after 90 days, daily figures after 13 months.

Tips#

  • Only switch on “Report per recipient” if there is a legal basis for it (for example consent). The recipient then sees a short notice with a link to the Privacy Policy on opening and can continue anonymously.
  • Campaign and group can also be appended to any shared address: ?k=trade-fair&g=sales.
  • A link can be revoked (it then no longer counts) or deleted (with all figures assigned to it).
