Operations & Administration (Control)
IT administration & access rights
liveForOperator
All accounts with the three access rights that can really be set: role, teaching authorisation and organisation — plus the applicable rules on which role sees which surfaces.
Why#
If someone cannot get in or sees too much, it is almost always down to role, teaching authorisation or organisation — all three are here in one place.
How it works#
Click pathAdministrationIT administration
- 1Open “IT administration”.
- 2Find an account in the field “Search by name or email…”.
- 3In the row choose the role (students, org admin (HR), owner (full access)), tick “Lecturer” for teaching authorisation and choose the organisation (“— none —” possible).
- 4“Save” — the row reports “saved” or “error”.
- 5At the bottom “Roles & visibility”: which role sees which surfaces; features are enabled under “Features” (Control) (Fig. 1).

Settings and switches#
No switch of its own in the feature catalogue — the feature belongs to its surroundings.
Roles & visibility#
- Owner — full administration area: costs, watchdog, audit, administration, IT administration, features — as well as all teaching and learning surfaces.
- Org admin (HR) — HR cockpit: manage employees, assign courses, view progress. No administration area.
- Teaching authorisation (addition to the role) — teaching: course production, classes and assessment.
- Students — own dashboard: take courses, learn, view transcripts.
Who may do what#
Only the operator. The list is loaded with elevated rights because profiles would otherwise not be readable due to the database's row-level protection — that is why the page is behind the strictest guard.
Tips#
- Teaching authorisation is an addition to the role: it opens course production, classes and assessment — regardless of which role the account otherwise has.
- A role that cannot be chosen here (such as that of the university administration) appears as “(legacy)” and is preserved. Administration accounts with a university function are created under “Accounts & roles”.
Related features#
- Accounts, roles & permissionsCreate real administration accounts and define in a matrix which university function may open which surface — with a visible difference between default and deliberate decision.
- Sign-in via your own university (SSO)Assign email domains to a customer — new accounts then automatically land with the right tenant; with a stored sign-in system, members sign in via their university.
- Test students and your own test coursesCreate throwaway students with a real sign-in, move through the platform as them and delete them again — and enrol yourself in any course for testing.
