Demo mode (button “Features”)

liveForOperator

For a demonstration the operator hides features only in their own browser — without changing anything in a customer's settings.

Why#

You do not show a company student elections, or a university employee onboarding. Demo mode slims down the platform for the duration of a demonstration — and still leaves everything there to show it on request.

How it works#

Click pathHeaderFeatures

  1. 1When signed in as operator, the floating button “Features” appears at the top right. It can be moved by the handle on the left; the browser remembers the position.
  2. 2Open the button: the window “Features in the demo” lists all features by area (Fig. 1).

  3. 3Remove a tick — the feature is gone immediately in this browser, including pages, menu items and tools. The number on the button says how many are hidden.
  4. 4Presets: “Everything on” removes every hiding; “Company compact” hides what a company does not need.
  5. 5Close the window with “Close” (×); the choice remains until it is changed.

Settings and switches#

No switch of its own in the feature catalogue — the feature belongs to its surroundings.

  • Features that are off anyway for the chosen organisation are listed with the note “off for this organisation” — demo mode cannot switch them on.
  • Applies only to this browser: the choice is kept for up to 30 days as a small marker (cookie) in the browser; nothing is stored in the database.

What “Company compact” hides#

  • the areas “Learning tools in the player”, “Studies & admission” and “University administration” entirely
  • plus individually: podcasts, mastery, ECTS overview, group work, community, student elections, alumni, mentoring, study partners, examinations office, exam proctoring, achievement archive, lecturer area and office hours

Demo mode or feature catalogue?#

The feature catalogue under “Control” decides bindingly for a customer what exists — for all their users, saved and logged. Demo mode only takes something away additionally in one browser. What the catalogue has switched off stays off.

Who sees the button#

Only the operator. On surfaces that are entirely in a customer's corporate design and must not look like the platform (such as a customer's product presentation), the button does not appear.

Tips#

  • Safe because the mode can only switch off: it names features that should be off; it cannot switch anything on, and it does not affect other users.
  • Before a demonstration choose “Company compact” and then tick individual features again that are to be talked about.
