Handing over course packages
Export a finished course as a file from one installation and import it into another — with a checksum, customer assignment and approval before it becomes visible.
Why#
Handing over a course built on commission should be an object you can send, store and verify — not a manual operation in a database. After the handover the course belongs to the customer.
How it works#
Click pathAdministrationCourse packages
- 1Open “Course packages”.
- 2“Export”: choose a course (file course or published workshop course), optionally “Title in the package”, then “Download package” (Fig. 1).
Fig. 1 “Export” and “Import”: choose a course and download the package, choose a customer and import the package. - 3“Import”: choose “For which customer?” (or “— do not assign yet —”) and choose the package file. The checksum is verified; if it does not match, nothing is created.
- 4The message names modules, slides and media — and that the course is “not yet visible”.
- 5Under “Arrived here”: check, if necessary “Assign customer …”, then “Approve”. With “Withdraw” a course is no longer delivered; the row remains as a record.
Settings and switches#
No switch of its own in the feature catalogue — the feature belongs to its surroundings.
The states of an imported package#
- imported · not yet visible
- approved · playable
- withdrawn — no longer delivered, remains as a record
A course with the wrong customer cannot be taken back, only explained — so check first, then approve.
What is listed per package#
- Title, origin (installation and course key), time of import
- Modules, slides, media
- who owns it and the identifier under which it runs
- the checksum
Who may do what#
Only the operator. A workshop author can additionally adopt a course package in the workshop as a new draft (see “Creating a course from material”).
Tips#
- Media (graphics, voice recordings, pre-produced videos) are not in the package — it would be gigabytes in size. Their list is in it, with a checksum as far as the file is here; the others must be transferred separately.
- Importing a package twice creates nothing twice; the message says “already there”.
- Reading uses the same route as the course player — what is exported is exactly what students see.
Related features#
- Creating a course from materialPut in files, up to three web addresses or a text — the workshop reads it, recognises the topics and suggests a course; or adopt a presentation 1:1, film a text as a script, start empty.
- Interfaces to other learning systemsOther learning systems launch courses of this platform, third-party content runs here; plus keys for the platform's own programming interface and webhooks that notify other systems.
- Phase 4 · PublishRelease the course, view it as a student, share it, present it or download it — as video, presentation file, PDF or standard package for other learning systems.
